These are our current needs:

June 12th, 2021 - A fire this morning destroyed the home of a family in the Old Village of Dayton. Today the family spent the day combing through the damage hoping to find personal mementos from their past. All else was lost and they will be forced to sell the property and start over. Lacking insurance, they need any help they can get. The Dayton Lions will be helping, but this is where our strong community can help as well. If you can help this family, your donations to the Dayton Community Foundation are tax deductible and every cent will go to the family. We are unpaid volunteers that believe in the importance of community at just such a time as this.

Please make your check payable to the Dayton Community Foundation and mark it “For Fire Lost Home”. Contact Lisa to drop off a check or mail to: DCF, PO Box 1, Dayton, MN 55327

Money for College Scholarships.

The High School class of 2022 will be graduating into unique and challenging times. 100% of money donated to the Dayton Community Foundation for this purpose will go the Champlin Park, Rogers, and/or Maple Grove High Schools who will use academic achievement, financial need, as well as community involvement to reward scholarships with this money. The need is real and now. Can you help?

“… It was through our own Leos club at Champlin that I discovered my passion for community engagement … after a lot of reflection, my favorite and most memorable part [of high school] was being on the leadership team for Leos club. … I decided to major in Family Social Science with a concentration area in community engagement.”

Please help us support amazing young people like Alisha.

Money for the Heritage Day community celebration.

This is a full day of celebration with a parade, activities for young and old, music, and entertainment. It is held every September. We always need funds in advance to plan accordingly. It all depends on donations. We need volunteers to make everything happen.

Dayton Elementary Student needs.

We take our cues for the Parent Teacher Organization, the Principal, and social workers to fill needs as they arise.

Family Emergency Funds.

With the pandemic and resulting job loss for many, we are stretched. Any help now will truly make a difference.

Volunteers   Volunteer

How does anything get done? It is not a race won by some amazing athlete. It is more like a marathon. Leaders step forward, take the baton, and later hand off to the next runner. A strong community takes more than a team; it takes a community of people working together. Everyone has some part to play. Please think about what you might contribute and join us. We need you.

Members   Lions Membership

If you are willing to make a commitment, please consider joining as a member of the Dayton Lions. You will immediately make a difference. You will be part of what is happening here, know what is going on, meet some great people, and make new friends. It is a cliché that has been said many times, but it is true: You will gain more from helping than what you put in. We just keep building on what has been given to us. You will find a great community of helpers here.
